Activating your Bluefin P2PE Device

There are 4 general steps that must be completed before your device is active and ready to use. An additional document with detailed steps about the inspection and activation process will be provided by Bluefin. Please do not open the tamper-sealed bag or throw away any packaging until the end of activation. This is to ensure proper security and setup for the device. The tamper seal will have information required for the activation process.

How to login to the P2PE Manager

The P2PE manager is where you will control the state of your devices.  The website is found at Prior to your device being shipped, the Custodian (your company’s P2PE point person) of the P2PE device will have received a login to the P2PE Manager via email from Bluefin.  The subject of that email is Bluefin: P2PE POI Manager: Account Created

Enter your User Name and Password from the email in to the corresponding fields of the website.


Change Your Password

Once you login to the Manager we recommend you change your password for security purposes. Inside the "change password" area, you will be able to review your information and make any update necessary as well as change your password. Insert the password that was sent to you by Bluefin and create a new personalized password.



Inspecting and Receiving Your Shipment

1. At the top of the page, click on the "Shipments: button. On this page you will see all of the shipments that have been sent to you from Bluefin.

2. Click on the "View" button on the left side of the shipment next to the device you would like to receive.


Next, click the "Receive" button on the right. This will take you to the inspection page.


IMPORTANT: DO NOT OPEN THE TAMPER BAG. Your hardware will be wrapped in a tamper-evident bag with a numbered tamper seal on the closure. You will need to input the information from both the hardware unit and tamper seal into the P2PE Manager. DO NOT REMOVE THE DEVICE FROM THE BAG UNTIL LATER.


Locate the label number on the Security Seal on the outside of the bag. Then, without opening the bag, look through the plastic to find the serial number on the bottom of the device. Enter both the serial number and tamper label number into the corresponding fields.



If you are ready to activate the device immediately and process payments, then check "Auto Activate device," and then click "Receive." (If you are not ready to activate the device at this time, then leave the "Auto Activate device" box unchecked, and click "Receive.") This puts the device into a "stored" state. PLEASE NOTE: you will not be able to use your device until it is in "Activating" state.





Activating Your Device

Click on the Devices button at the top of the page. Find the device you would like to deploy and click the "Edit" button on the left.



Change the "Device State" to "Activating" in the drop-down menu and press "Save." Your device is now ready to be used. 


Once you begin processing cards, your device will automatically change from "Activating" to "Activated" Status.
