Depending on your local network, you may need to set your PAX device to use either DHCP LAN mode or Static LAN mode.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) - This is a network standard used to automate the process of configuring devices on IP networks. Internet-enabled devices connected to your home or work network are automatically assigned an IP address by your router. Since this is a dynamic assignment, it may change if the router or device is restarted.
Static IP - This setting allows your device to accept an assigned IP address, however, the address is kept until you cancel the IP reservation or remove the device from your network. This is helpful to ensure that your device will remember the same IP address, in the event the router or device is restarted.
Note: Many network switches will stop the DHCP process from happening and will not assign an IP address to the PAX device. For this reason, we highly recommend that the PAX device is plugged directly into your router. You will need to let the router assign an IP address for your device, particularly when setting up the device for the first time.

2. On the next screen, enter your password, then press the green Enter key.

3. On the Main Menu page, tap the Down Arrow to scroll down one page and tap 2. Communication.
4. You will be prompted again to enter your password and press the green Enter key.
5. On the Communication Options screen, tap the Down Arrow until you can tap on 1. LAN Parameters.

7. On the Lan Type screen, tap 1. DHCP.
8. Press the red Cancel key until you are back on the Bluefin home screen.

10. Power-cycle your device by unplugging the power cable, waiting 5 seconds, and plugging the power cable back in. The device will take some time through the bootup process and receive a new IP address from the router.
Changing to Static Mode to Save Your IP Address
If the IP address assigned to your PAX device changes, you will need to update the IP address in your RepairQ Payment Device settings before RepairQ will be able to communicate with the device again. To prevent this from happening, you can set up the device to use a static IP.
1. You can follow the above steps (1-6) until you are on the Lan Type screen.
2. On the Lan Type Screen, tap 2. Static.
3. Press the red Cancel key until you are back on the Bluefin home screen.
4. (Optional) Navigate back to the Lan Type page and confirm that the settings reflect LAN TYPE: 2. After you have confirmed, go back to the home screen by pressing the red Cancel key again.
